Do at least some of your reading on paper. Young and grown-up eyes alike can benefit from flipping pages instead of always using a tablet or e-reader.
So this year the library challenges the community (14 years old and up) to NOT read on your (or any) device- read at least 1 real hardcover/paperback book each month! And BONUS, we have plenty to check out from the library.
Everyone who completes all 12 challenges for the year will receive a thank you gift from the library! All readers will be entered in a drawing for a gift as well! Gifts will include a Stanton County Food gift card, El Torino gift card, Amazon gift card, rusty Bucket gift card, and an assortment of gift baskets. The challenge will complete and names will be drawn on 12/17/2021.
The library also offers http://www.goodreads.com as an excellent resource to help keep you on track and count titles for you. You can find book recommendations and reviews. They offer recommendations by genre, you can see what readers found to be the best in 2020 and beyond, and peek at what is coming out in 2021.
We all know what we need to do, and it can be a tendency to still not to do it, because it’s hard to go out of our comfort zone, and it’s easier to make excuses. NOW is the time to get comfortable in the uncomfortable! Take a risk every day, get comfortable with a good book!
†I have lived a thousand lives and I have loved a thousand loves. I’ve walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read.†~ George RR Martin
