The story of two women in the 1980s, of gray-head Mrs.Threadgoode telling her life story to Evelyn, who is in the sad slump of middle age. the tale she tells is also of two women-of the irrepressibly daredevilish tomboy Idgie and her friend Ruth, who back in the thirties ran a little place in Whistle Stop, Alabama, a southern kind of Cafe Wobegon offering good barbecue and good coffee and all kinds of love and laughter, even an occasional murder.

2021 Reading Challenge

This year the library challenges the community (14 years old and up) to NOT read on your (or any) device- read at least 1 real hardcover/paperback book each month! And BONUS, we have plenty to checkout from the library.

Everyone who completes all 12 challenges for the year will receive a thank you gift from the library! All readers will be entered in a drawing for a gift as well! Gifts will include a Stanton County Food gift card, El Torino gift card, Amazon gift card, rusty Bucket gift card, and an assortment of gift baskets.
